My Visit to Chalapathar Shyam Gaon : a Hundred and Fifty years old Village

Well India has nearly 6.5 lakh villages and  about 60% of the Indian population lives in villages.  In Assam alone there are 2489 village panchayats covering about 26249 villages. Villages of upper Assam  may not be as similar to those of lower Assam. There are differences in geographical environments, cultures, traditions etc. Yet in spite of various differences, India is a country of unity in diversity.

Spicy Potato Curry Recipe

How about a simple and spicy potato curry recipe today. Well it's very easy to cook and full of flavor. Fried potato pieces are simmered in a spicy hung curd gravy. Spicy potato curry is a very popular dish in India. Whenever you don't have any other vegetables in your refrigerator you can make this easy potato curry recipe.
This potato curry goes well with roti,  paratha or naan (Indian bread).

I don't often cook this potato curry recipe as my husband is a diabetic patient and eating too much potatoes may not be good for his heath.  But my daughter loves to eat potatoes. So sometimes I make this simple potato curry recipe and usually serve with roti.

You can make this spicy potato curry recipe with baby potatoes also.  I have already shared another spicy baby potatoes recipe before. Click Here for the recipe.

Salad is a dish usually made from vegetables and served in small pieces as raw or cooked. A salad can be served during a meal either at the beginning as an appetizer salad or as a side dish.  Salad can also be served as a main course but such salad contains food with high protein such as meat, fish or egg. Sweet salads that contains fruits , cream,  honey etc. are served after meal as a dessert salad.

We like to have  side salads with our meal and the most common side salad dish at our home is tomato, onion, green chillies and ginger salad. Sometimes I add cucumber in it. We don't use olive oil in salads.  Instead of olive oil we use mustard oil, as mustard oil can be consumed as raw. We can say mustard oil is the Assamese version of olive oil. But mustard oil has a strong smell and taste which everyone may not like to or able to consume it as raw.

As the season of beetroot, carrot and spinach are on, I tried to make a side salad dish with these vegetables. The colour of this sal…
