Indian Style Carrot Pickle

Got extra carrots?  Here is a tasty Indian style carrot pickle recipe.

Pickling is an art. Pickling is a process by which fish, meat or vegetables are preserved for out of season use.  The medium of pickling is different from country to country and most of the time brine or vinegar is used.  In India, oil and spices are the main ingredients of pickles and that's why Indian pickles taste different than others. Indian pickles are generally served with rice or roti as a side dish.



Carrot is a root vegetable with a great source of Vitamin A. Carrot is a versatile vegetable in Indian cuisine as various delicious recipes can be prepared from main course, sides and sweets. Carrot pickle is a special carrot recipe which I love to enjoy with roti or Indian bread.

Fish Curry with Ul Kobi (Kohlrabi) is a simple yet delicious fish curry recipe for those who love Kohlrabi.

When I was a kid I didn't liked the taste of  kohlrabi and yes of course my kids don't like it either. As I grew up I developed the taste and now kohlrabi is one of my favorite vegetable.

Ul Kobi or Kohlrabi is a root like vegetable but actually related to cabbage family is a versatile vegetable that can be added in salad, fish curry, meat curry etc. Kohlrabi has a cabbage like smell and taste like broccoli stems. It has lots of health benefits.

Easy Fish Curry Recipe

This recipe is for my those blog followers (specially from US)  who has a temptation for Indian fish curry. This recipe need not much afford and can easily prepare with simple ingredients. Indian recipes needs much afford as it requires different spices to prepare and US people hardly store so many Indian spices in their kitchen. This recipe may also useful for beginners and bachelors.  And off course this recipe is for busy and lazy people like me too.

In this recipe I'm using tomato based pizza or pasta sauce together with mustard seeds' paste.  You can use any ready made pizza sauce and mustard paste or if you like you can make it yourself. Here I'm using ready-made pizza sauce but I made mustard seeds' paste myself . For mustard seeds' paste I'm using yellow mustard seeds. Yellow mustard seeds are less bitter than black mustard seeds.
