Fish curry with potato & tomato

Tomato is one of the main ingredient of many Indian cuisine.  Tomatoes not only brings tanginess to the dish, it also makes the dish thicker. Fish curry with potato and tomato is a very simple and easy yet tasty recipe. I used to make this dish when no other vegetable is available in my refrigerator or when I get no time for cooking, in my busy days.  So let's check this recipe.

The recipe of Fish curry with potato & tomato

Ingredients:

4 pieces fish

1 boiled potato

1 tomato chopped

1/2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste

1/2 tbsp panch phuron

1/2 tbsp turmeric powder

1/2 tbsp red chilli powder

1/2 tbsp cumin seeds powder

1/2 tbsp coriander powder

2 tbsp mustard oil
&
Salt to taste

*panch phoron: a mixture of  5 lndian spice blend- cumin seeds, black mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, nigella seeds and fennel seeds.

For garnishing chopped coriander leaves

Chilli PORK

Continuing with my Indo-Chinese recipe, this one is really very tasty. Pork is different  from chicken.  Its cooking time and cooking style is different and it's taste is also different. Indo-Chinese recipes are easy to cook and it's different from Indian style of cooking.  Less or no powdered spices are used in Indo-Chinese cooking, only some Chinese sauces are used to cook the dish. Fish curry with colocasia(Kosu) and mustard plant(Horiyoh xaak)

Mustard plant (Horiyoh Xaak) is a green leafy vegetable grows in winter. Its taste is little bitter when cooked. But it consists many vitamins and minerals. So it's a good vegetable from health point of view.

Colocasia again a tropical plant found in Assam. Colocasia is also known as taro. As all the parts of a colocasia plant ia edible, I am using root part in this recipe. It's very tasty and healthy too and another speciality of Assamese cuisine.

Fish curry with mustard greens (Lai Xaak)

Lai Xaak or Mustard greens is a green leafy vegetable. Mustard greens contain a lots of vitamins and minerals and as such very healthy and very tasty too. I love this green leafy vegetable very much . This vegetable has a wide use in Assamese cuisine.  From making salad, chutney and many veg recipes , a very tasty fish curry recipe can also be made. It's a very simple recipe,  made without spices. Assamese recipes are less spicy recipes but much more healthy. Sometimes adding powdered spices spoiled the real taste of the vegetables.  So do try this fish curry recipe for healthy living.

Fish curry with spinach

Spinach is a green leafy vegetable and is one of the healthiest greens. It grows during winter and has many health benefits as it contains lots of vitamins and minerals. Spinach in Assamese is called paaleng haak. Fish curry with spinach is a very simple but tasty fish curry recipe. No spice is added in making this curry and therfore is very healthy. Any kind of fish can be used in making this curry, but fresh fish tastes better with spinach.

Ingredients:

4 piece fish

1 bunch of spinach

1 tomato

1/4 tbsp fenugreek seeds

1/2 tbsp turmeric powder
2-3 green chillies

2 tbsp mustard oil
&
Salt to taste

Method:

Wash fish and rub with salt and turmeric powder. Chop spinach,  tomato and green chilies.

In a pan heat oil. Fry fish pieces. Drain and keep aside. In the remaining oil add fenugreek seeds. When crackling,  add turmeric powder.

Add tomato,  spinach and green chillies.  Stir and fry. Add salt and 1 cup of water. Bring to boil.
