Colocasia flower recipe

Colocasia flower is light yellow in colour.  It has one petal only and is edible.  Every part of a colocasia plant is edible.  Its leaves,  stems, flowers and roots all are edible. In my blog I have shared many colocasia recipes, but this is my first recipe on colocasia flower. This dish can be served as a side dish with rice.

  •  5-6 colocasia flowers
  •  1 tomato chopped
  •  1 tbsp grated fermented bamboo shoot
  •  1/2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  •  1 small onion chopped
  •  1/3 tbsp turmeric powder
  •  1/2 tbsp red chilli powder
  •  1/3 tbsp cumin seeds power
  •  1/3 tbsp coriander powder
  •  2 tbsp mustard oil &
  •  salt to taste

  1. Remove the petal of colocasia flower. Wash under running water and chopped it. In salty water boil it for 5 minutes. Drain and keep it aside.
  2. In a pan heat oil. Add ginger garlic paste and chopped onions. Fry till onion turns light brown in colour. Add turmeric powder, cumin powder,  coriander powder and red chilli powder.  Stir and fry.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes. Fry til oil separates  and then add boiled colocasia flower. Stir and fry. Add salt.
  4. Add bamboo shoot. Stir and fry for sometimes.
  5. Remove from heat. Serve hot as a side dish with rice.
