Chilli fish

Chilli fish is an Indo-Chinese dish. It is a very popular dish. In marriarge parties or any other parties we often see serving chilli fish with many other dishes. In Indo-Chinese recipies many different sauces are used , which makes the dish very delicious. My daughter loves to eat chilli fish and off course chilli chicken also. Chilli fish or chilli chicken can be served with fried rice, which is also an Indo- Chinese recipe. I am not using too many sauces neither I am using any batter in this recipe. I am cooking this dish in a simple home style manner.  Hope everybody likes it.

Preparation time - 15 minutes
Cooking time - 20 minutes
Total time - 35 minutes
Serve - 4

Ingredients:


  • 250 gms of fish
  • 1 capsicum
  • 2 onions
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic, chopped (optional)
  • 1 tomato (optional)
  • 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp chilli sauce
  • 1 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp vinegar
  • Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 pinch synthetic organic colour-orange (optional)


Method of cooking:


  1. Wash fish under running water and cut into cube sized pieces.
  2. Cut capsicum and onions into cube sized pieces. Cut tomatoes also into cubed sized pieces.
  3. Rub fish cubes with salt and synthetic food colour. You can also add beaten egg and corn flour but I like it as plain.
  4.  Now heat oil in a pan. Fry fish cubes until golden brown. Drain and set aside.
  5.  In the remaining oil add garlic and onions. Stir and when onion turns pink add capsicum. Stir and fry. Now add tomatoes and fried fish cubes.
  6. Add soy sauce, chilli sauce, tomato sauce and vinegar. Stir and fry. Now add salt. Soy sauce has salt added. So be carefull in adding salt. Stir and fry.
  7. Chilli fish is ready to serve.
