Simple chicken curry

This is a very simple chicken curry  recipe which I often cook at home. My kids love this chicken curry. Anybody can cook this chicken curry because  very few ingredients are required and very easy to cook.

So here I am sharing this  recipe. Hope everyone like it.  Serve it as a side dish with steamed rice or roti.


  • 350gms of chicken
  • 1/2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 onion chopped
  • 1 tomato chopped
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds powder
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 2 tbsp mustard  oil
  • 1 potato cut in four pieces ( optional)
  • Salt to taste


  1. Cut chicken into pieces. Wash under  running water. Keep aside.
  2. In a pan heat oil. Add ginger  garlic paste and chopped  onions.  Fry for some time.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes. Fry till oil separates.
  4. Add chicken pieces. Add potatoes.   Fry for some time.
  5.   Add turmeric, cumin powder, coriander powder and red chilli powder.
  6. Mix well.  Again fry for some time.
  7. Add salt.
  8. Add 2 cups of water. Bring to boil. Then cover the lid.  Cook until potatoes and chicken pieces become soft in medium heat. Add more water if required.
  9. Add garam masala 5 minutes before removing from heat.
  10. Serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
