Fish curry with tamarind and poppy seeds


Continuing with my fish recipes, now this one is a very yummy one. I personally love this recipe.  The recipe taste little sour and little sweet as because of tamarind and jaggery .  Mint gives an extra flavor to the recipe.  Poppy seeds' paste is used to make the gravy thicker.

Ingredients:

• 4 pieces fish (any)
• 1/2 cup poppy seeds paste
• 1 small piece of jaggery
• 8-9 mint leaves chopped
• 1 onion chopped
• 1/4 cup tamarind pulp
• 2 cardamom
• 2 cloves
• 1 small piece of cinnamon
• 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder
• 1/3 tbsp cumin powder
• 1/3 tbsp coriander powder
• 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder
• 1/3 tbsp garam masala
• 2 tbsp oil &
• salt to taste

Method:

Wash fish pieces under running water.  Rub with salt and turmeric.

In a pan heat oil. Fry fish piece. Drain, keep aside.

In the remaining oil add  cardamom,  cinnamon and cloves. Add chopped onions. Fry till light brown.

Add poppy seeds paste. Stir and mix. Add turmeric,  cumin, coriander and red chilli powder.  Stir and mix.

Now add jaggery and salt. Add tamarind pulp and chopped mint leaves.

Add fish pieces. Mix all well and cover the pan. In a medium heat cook for few minutes. Add little water if necessary.

Add garam masala, cook for 2-3 minutes.

Remove from heat. Serve with plain rice or jeera rice.

Custard is a variety of  dessert preparations generally based on milk. Milk is thickened by adding either egg yolks, corn flour or gelatin etc. and at last fruits and nuts are added to it.  Kids love to eat custard and it's very easy to prepare. Easy Fish Curry Recipe

This recipe is for my those blog followers (specially from US)  who has a temptation for Indian fish curry. This recipe need not much afford and can easily prepare with simple ingredients. Indian recipes needs much afford as it requires different spices to prepare and US people hardly store so many Indian spices in their kitchen. In this recipe I'm using tomato based pizza or pasta sauce together with mustard seeds' paste.  You can use any ready made pizza sauce and mustard paste or if you like you can make it yourself.
